Dan Gurney burst on the California racing scene in the late 1950s and within a few years was recognized as one of the best in the world. He could drive, and win, in anything – F1, Indy, stock cars, endurance, and sports cars. He was the only American to ever win a F1 race in a car he built. And he had movie star good looks. He was an inspiration to a whole generation of motorsports fans. There will never be another.
