In the period from 1967 to 1972, McLaren dominated the Can-am; everyone else was competing for third place. Of all the other teams, Lothar Motschenbacher stood out for his meticulous preparation and consistency. Like many other teams, he relied on customer versions of last year’s McLaren, but always ensured it was prepared as well as it possibly could be. This photo was shot panning Lothar going at about 150 mph with a 500 mm lens.
